ABELDent Patient and Cloud Services
Terms and Conditions
Effective Date: March 16, 2026
Version: 1.0
1. Overview of the Service
The ABELDent Patient and Cloud Services (“PCS”) is a patient engagement and messaging service provided by ABELDent Inc. to dental practices using ABELDent Cloud or ABELDent Local Plus.
PCS enables dental practices to communicate with their patients through automated and manual email and SMS (text) messages related to appointments, scheduling, and practice operations.
2. What the Service Does
Depending on how each dental practice configures its communication settings, PCS may be used to send and receive:
- Appointment reminders
- Appointment confirmations
- Booking notifications
- Post appointment feedback requests
- Two way text message conversations initiated by the patient (for example, to request appointment changes or clarifications)
Message frequency is fully configurable by each dental practice through automation rules within ABELDent. Actual message volume varies based on office configuration and patient interaction.
3. Message and Data Rates
- SMS messages are billed at $0.01 (one cent) per SMS message segment. This charge is for the relevant dental practice and not the patient, charged monthly.
- Message and data rates may also apply based on the patient’s mobile carrier and service plan.
- ABELDent does not control or determine carrier imposed charges.
Message frequency is fully configurable by each dental practice through automation rules within ABELDent. Actual message volume varies based on office configuration and patient interaction.
4. Message Frequency (Typical Examples)
While message frequency is determined by each dental practice, a typical patient experience may include:
- One appointment reminder (SMS or email)
- One appointment confirmation (SMS or email)
- One booking notification (SMS or email)
- One post appointment feedback request (SMS or email)
Additional messages may occur if the patient initiates two way communication. Message frequency ultimately depends on the practice’s configuration and patient engagement.
5. Consent and Compliance
Dental practices are responsible for obtaining appropriate patient consent before sending SMS or email communications using PCS.
PCS is designed primarily for appointment related and practice related communications. Practices are responsible for ensuring their use of PCS complies with applicable laws and regulations, including:
- Canada’s AntiSpam Legislation (CASL) for Canadian recipients
- The Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) for U.S. recipients
PCS supports industry standard consent, identification, and opt out mechanisms required under these regulations. [crtc.gc.ca], [startelecom.ca], [quo.com]
6. Opt Out Instructions
Patients may opt out of communications at any time:
- SMS Opt Out: Reply STOP to any text message
- Email Opt Out: Click the Unsubscribe link included in the email
Opt out requests are processed promptly, and no further messages will be sent unless the patient later provides new consent.
7. Service Availability and Limitations
PCS relies on third party networks, email providers, and mobile carriers. Message delivery times are not guaranteed.
ABELDent is not responsible for delays, filtering, or non delivery caused by external systems, carriers, or network conditions.
